My nervous system used to default to anxious tendencies, especially in dating and relationships. Today, I want to unpack why the chase felt so addictive and how I finally broke free.

           Understanding Anxious Attachment Styles.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Attachment theory, developed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth, explains how early caregiving shapes the way we relate to others. There are four main attachment styles:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

             Develops from inconsistent caregiving. As adults, we may fear abandonment, seek reassurance, and feel emotionally "needy."

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Avoidant Attachment:
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             Stems from emotionally distant caregivers. Often results in people avoiding closeness and overvaluing independence.
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            Fearful-Avoidant Attachment:

             Often rooted in trauma, creating a push-pull dynamic of craving and fearing intimacy.

            Secure Attachment:

             Emerges from consistent, nurturing caregiving. People feel safe expressing needs and trusting in connection.

           Reframing the Label: You're Not "Anxiously Attached."

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Let’s start with a gentle reframe. Instead of thinking of attachment as a permanent identity, for example, “I am anxiously attached”. Instead, think of it as a tendency: “I have anxious attachment tendencies.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Why does this matter? Because our words shape our world. One is a fixed label; the other leaves room for movement, healing, and growth. As someone who lives and breathes somatic work, I’m here to tell you: change is not only possible, it’s natural. Your attachment style is not set in stone. It adapts, especially with conscious awareness and nervous system regulation.

           I know the spiral. An unanswered text sends your nervous system into panic. You re-read conversations, check locations, and overthink tone. You over-function in relationships, trying to control outcomes and avoid rejection.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            I know the feeling. That deep, gripping fear of abandonment lurks behind every unanswered text. The two-hour delay in response time must mean they’ve lost interest. The drop in vocal excitement when they say “hey.” Your brain says,
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           'Something is off.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           ' And when you finally get that text back? Relief floods in. The high hits hard. It's like your body exhales.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           But that's not intimacy
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           : it's survival. This anxious cycle doesn't just affect romance. It manifests in friendships, at work, and even in how you interact with yourself.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;

           Do You Truly Want an Emotionally Available Partner?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Here's a truth that hit me hard: If you continue to attract emotionally unavailable people, chances are… you're emotionally unavailable too. Let that land.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

             That constant checking and need to know their every move?

            That’s codependency.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             The urge to merge with someone and wanting to be with them 24/7?
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            That’s enmeshment.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             Feeling like you’ve finally met “the one” after two dates?
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
        
            That’s limerence
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             (a chemical cocktail of fantasy and hope).
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
        
            I get it. I chased those highs for years. Likewise, I mistook intensity for intimacy. I wasn't broken: I was wired for chaos because it felt familiar. I loved the chase, the push-pull dynamic, the drama that felt like passion. It’s what I
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           knew
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            love to be. But emotional roller coasters aren’t intimacy, they’re survival patterns.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           As a somatic intimacy coach, I don’t pathologize these patterns; I illuminate them. You don’t need to be “fixed.” You need to understand your needs, your nervous system, and your inner world with compassion and empathy.

            Secure attachment isn't about being perfect. It's about being

           present

            Expressing your needs without guilt or fear.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Choosing peace over performance.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Repairing after rupture, not avoiding it.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           It's not about never feeling anxious. It's about knowing how to soothe yourself without chasing validation.

           My Journey: From Anxious to Conscious.

            I've felt the sting of rejection. I've begged for love, not believing I deserved it. But once I started staying

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           with

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            my emotions instead of fleeing from them, everything changed.

           Last year, I noticed a shift. While dating, I caught myself wanting to spiral. But instead of reacting, I paused.

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Can I meet that need within myself first?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
        
            That slight pause created space for
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           choice
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           . And I began walking away from dynamics that activated more anxiety than connection.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

           Chaos Isn't Chemistry, It's Conditioning.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            I wasn't addicted to love. I was addicted to
           &#xD;

           uncertainty
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            . The nervous system doesn't crave what's healthy; it craves what's familiar. And for many of us, that means chaos. But the moment I began choosing
           &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           regulation over reaction
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           , I rewired my system for peace.

           Fast-forward to now: I'm in a long-distance relationship with someone who is grounded and emotionally present. And while that might sound boring to my past self… It's life-giving! One night during a relationship check-in, he said:

           Ready to move from anxious to anchored? Here are five somatic tools to support your journey:
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           1. Name the Sensation.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Instead of spiralling into thoughts, drop into your body, ask:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            What am I feeling in my chest? My jaw? My belly?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Name it (tightness, heat, buzzing). This brings awareness back to the present.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           2. Use Soothing Touch.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Put your hand on your heart. Apply pressure. Rock gently. Feel your body. Ground your energy. Safety begins with self-contact.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;

           Speaking your needs doesn’t make you needy. It makes you brave. Speaking your truth IS intimacy.

           5. Titrate Your Tolerance.

           Stretch your comfort zone slowly. Let yourself feel a little anxious without reacting. Then return to safety. That's how you build capacity for secure love.

           What Is the Shadow?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Carl Jung coined the term
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           shadow
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            to describe the unconscious parts of ourselves we’ve repressed, often because we learned they weren’t safe to express in the environments we grew up in.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           These might be your boldness, your anger, your sensuality, your grief. These qualities are not inherently bad or broken. They’re simply the pieces of you that were labelled “too much,” “not enough,” or “unloveable”, so you tucked them away.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Once hidden, the shadow doesn’t disappear. It silently runs the show from beneath the surface. The body stores what the mind tries to forget.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Consciousness Explained: A Kitchen Metaphor.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Picture your consciousness like an open-concept kitchen. You can see what’s happening, your thoughts, emotions, and memories are right there.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Now, imagine a door to the dining room. What’s behind it? That’s your unconscious. The part you can’t see, but that influences everything on the menu.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The classic iceberg analogy applies too: Your conscious mind is the tip above water. The shadow? That massive glacier underneath. It’s the one that sank the Titanic, and it can steer your relationships, reactions, and self-worth without you even knowing.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Studies suggest that
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           up to 95% of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours come from the unconscious.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            That means only 5% of what we do is fully conscious.
            &#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

           The Shadow and Intimacy: Why It Matters More Than You Think.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           If 95% of your inner world operates unconsciously, guess what? That includes how you show up in love, sex, and relationships.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           The shadow holds the parts of you that long to be seen but also fear rejection. Without awareness, you only bring 5% of yourself into connection, the “safe” or “acceptable” version. That leaves very little room for real intimacy.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            You might say,
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           “I want deep love,”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            while simultaneously hiding the very parts that would allow that love to land.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Shadow work helps you close that gap.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It invites the messy, tender, hidden parts of you into the light, so that you can be fully seen, loved, and connected in a way that feels nourishing and real.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           How the Shadow Is Born.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           As children, we’ll do anything to keep a connection. If that means silencing your anger, shrinking your joy, or hiding your needs, you’ll do it to feel safe. You got praise for being polite and quiet. Your big emotions led to punishment or disconnection. So, you learned to shut them down. And over time, they moved into the shadow.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The brilliant survival strategies you created in childhood, pleasing others, numbing your body, and avoiding conflict often become the biggest
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           roadblocks to intimacy, joy, and embodiment
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            in adulthood.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           They become default settings. And unless you pause to look at them, they become blind spots.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Shame: The Shadow’s Favourite Accessory.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

            Brené Brown’s research
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

            taught us that
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           shame isn’t something we’re born with; it’s something we learn
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           . Shame thrives in silence. And it’s one of the strongest forces that pushes our truth into hiding.
          &#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Here’s the difference:

            Guilt
           &#xD;
      &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

             says, “I did something bad.”

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;

            Shame
           &#xD;

           And until we name it, it keeps our shadow locked in place.

           My Story: Love, Shame &amp;amp; Spotify Stalking.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In one of my past relationships, I entered a deep shame spiral.  We broke up and got back together too many times to count. During our "no contact" phase, I spiralled.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           I googled things like:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            “How to get him back.”
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            “Is he thinking about me?”
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            “Male psychology after a breakup.”
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I even stalked his Spotify activity. I’m not proud, but it’s real.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This experience wasn’t just heartbreak. It was my abandonment wound playing out in real time. My unworthiness screamed through every cell in my body. It physically hurt.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And that’s what the shadow does. It plays out our oldest stories while convincing us it’s “just how we are.”
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Where Somatics Come In: Before the Brain.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            So, how do we make the unconscious conscious?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           We start with the body.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Every experience you have enters through your nervous system before your brain even makes sense of it. Sensory data moves through your limbic system (your emotional brain) before it ever reaches the prefrontal cortex (your thinking brain).
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If we skip the body, we skip the root.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is why journaling or talk therapy alone may not be enough. You may understand what happened, but your body may still be holding on to unresolved energy.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            We get stuck in the
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           “story loop”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            , thinking about our emotions instead of
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           feeling
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            them. Somatic work interrupts that loop and invites the body back into the healing process.
            &#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Somatic Practices to Meet Your Shadow.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Here are five somatic tools you can use to begin working with your shadow:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           1. Get Curious, Not Critical.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When you find yourself making judgments about yourself or others, get curious and investigate what might be behind the troublesome behaviour. Ask yourself:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           ✨ What part of me feels unlovable?
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           ✨ What am I afraid that others will see?
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           ✨ What behaviours do I judge in others that might live in me, too?
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           2. Track the Sensations of Shame.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Start noticing how shame shows up in your body. Tight jaw? Tense chest? Freezing or numbing? Naming these signals builds body awareness and interrupts the spiral.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           3. Stay With It.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This practice is complex and powerful. Let yourself cry. Shake. Breathe. Move. Let the energy run through. You don’t have to analyze it. You just have to stay with it.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           4. Soother With Love.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           After the wave passes, offer care: A warm bath. A nourishing meal. A gentle hug. Call a friend. Let your body return to safety.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           5. Share With Someone Safe.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Shame dissolves when it’s met with compassion. When you speak your truth in a safe, consensual space, your shadow softens. You integrate instead of exile.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Shadow Work Is Not Solo Work.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This work has shaped me, not just as a coach, but as a partner, friend, and woman. In my sessions, I don’t lead you around your shame. I walk with you through it. We meet the fear, the grief, and the tenderness together. We let the body speak. And we trust it knows the way.
          &#xD;

           Most of us have learned to live in our heads. We overanalyze. We judge ourselves. We loop in guilt or shame. Our thoughts say things like:

           The body, however, doesn’t speak in right or wrong. The body speaks in sensation, emotion, contraction, and expansion. It tells us what feels safe, what brings joy, what signals a boundary, and what sparks desire. But we have to learn how to listen to it.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           In our work together, I’ll teach you how to attune to your body’s language and track subtle shifts in breath, tension, energy, and sensation. You’ll learn to regulate your nervous system, honour your emotional states, and reclaim your connection to pleasure and aliveness.

           4. Transform Shame and Reclaim Your Self-Expression.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Shame is one of the heaviest emotional burdens we carry. It makes us hide, shrink, and edit ourselves. It tells us we’re broken. Likewise, it keeps our needs in the shadows and our truth stuck in our throats.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           But here’s the truth: Shame cannot survive in the presence of compassion. And when you are gently witnessed in your full humanity, when your messy, vulnerable, emotional self is met with love instead of judgment, that shame melts.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
